Gems and Jewels Route
Hidromineral Tourist Areas, Porto Alegre, Serra Gaúcha and Valleys.

The route stands out the chain of production of the gems and jewels, with special distinction for the stone Amethyst, from the location of the mine, going by the extraction of the gems, the stone cutting until the final product, that is the produced piece, the jewel.
It is an opportunity for the tourist to live the prospector and the stone-cutter´s day by day, as well as to witness the process industries of stones and jewels, visiting the mines, industries and stores, and still: to buy jewels, souvenirs, precious stones and other objects in the places themselves of visitation.

Cities:

Ametista do Sul, Estrela, Frederico Westphalen, Guaporé, Iraí, Lajeado, Santa Cruz do Sul, Soledade end Porto Alegre.

You can´t miss:

- São Gabriel church , with its walls and the adornments of the altar covered with amethyst stones. Besides, workshop of stone cutting of precious stones and the Amethyst Park museum, with exhibition of precious stones, underground galleries and store of derived products of precious stones, in Ametista do Sul;

- The only mine of stone calcita to sky open of the world, in Frederico Westphalen;

- The trade of Ametista do Sul and Soledade for purchases of derived products of precious stones;

- The culture from Rio Grande do Sul associated to gastronomy: - artistic presentations, dances and the barbecue.

Keep on routing:

- Visit Salto do Yucumã, with 1.800 meters, considered the largest longitudinal waterfall of the world, inside Parque Estadual do Turvo, in the municipal district Derrubadas;

- Go through the Route of the Origins, with prehistoric and natural attractions of the area, with prominence for Mata, the largest paleobotanical reserve of the planet, with 200 million years fossil (turismo@pmnesul.com.br);

- Taste the medicinal properties of the mineral and thermal water and the medicinal black mud of Irai and Vicente Dutra. The beauty of the forests with native species, abundant fauna, the waters of the river Uruguay, favoring to the fisherman, to transform the waters of Mel in a rare jewel, inviting the tourist to live moments of enchantment, rest, baths with mineral and thermal water.
