Knowledge and Tastes in Vale do Caí


 

This route stands out some options of the expressive Rio Grande colonial. Wonderful landscapes, local sceneries and events with characteristic accent and imcomparable tastes. The access is provileged by the short distance from Porto Alegre ( the state capital) and by the excellent roads conditions.

In the menu we can find delicious breads, cakes, cookies, fruits without pesticides, straight from the trees. It is possible to taste  “cachaça”, varied liquers, strawberries produced in the greenhouse, cheese and wine.  Besides knowing the local culinary the visitors can also learn the history of the state concerning its formation.

And there is much more like teas, elixirs, phytotherapy and  the production and improvement of plants as well.  By train, we visit some  interesting places like a cave with archeological excavations. Making a reservation, visitors can stay in welcoming places, enjoy typical “café colonial”, also go fishing and ride a boat for pleasure.

You can´t miss

- “Casa da Atafona” ( house of the mill), in Montenegro, a property considered an example of the environment preservation, valuing the historical aspects  of the ancestors´ daily habits. The house has been restored and still has the pieces of furniture and the family old appliances as a small museum. There, the groups can have a delicious lunch or “café colonial” and even go fishing, ride a boat or a cart.

- “Cervejaria Barley”, in Capela de Santana where the Schwartz and the Sturmer families began the home-made production of beer the same  way as the famous German breweries, without chemical additives. Besides enjoying the beauty of the place, visitors will receive informations about the production process and taste the different types of produced beers as well.


Keep on routing:
